Why FOLDLINE

The hinge is the hard part. We start there.

Every Z Fold folds along one moving axis — the part most cases design around. We build outward from it, test corner-first onto concrete, and report the results in drop numbers, not adjectives.

The hinge story

The fold moves. Protection has to move with it.

A slab phone is six flat sides and no moving parts. A Z Fold adds a hinge — a precise mechanism that opens and closes thousands of times, carrying the inner display across the crease on every cycle. It is the part that makes the phone fold, and the part that wears first.

Most cases are adapted from slab designs: wrap the frame, leave the hinge open. We work the other way around. The five-sided hinge cover comes first — it wraps the fold's weakest axis — and the rest of the case is built outward from that one decision.

The measurement principle

Every number here traces to a drop.

We don't grade a case by how it feels in the hand. We grade it by what happened when we dropped it — corner-first, onto concrete, on the bench, before it ships.

The ladder

Four tiers, one honest decision.

Protection trades against bulk, and no single case wins that trade for everyone. So we built a ladder — each rung a clear point on the curve — and left the choice to be made on purpose.

Slim
The frame and both displays covered, with nothing you would notice in the pocket.
Rugged
The five-sided hinge cover and a 16 ft drop structure — for the drop you didn't see coming.
Ultra
A 32 ft corner-first rating and a reinforced axis, at the minimum bulk that allows.
Designer
Off the protection scale on purpose — a hand-finished colorway over the same engineered core.
